ADK hospital--- my encounter with them--part 2

Root cause of all troubles at ADK hospital
please read my blog ADK hospital --Male - working conditions first and then read this

There is something wrong with the administration of this hospital .
Dr Pandian is a senior doctor and medical director , who is considered as the father of the hospital , but he is not a straight forward person. By age and experience , I may be senior to him .

He was not happy in me joining this hospital
These are probably the reasons :
1.he is frightened to have senior colleagues, or
2. he is indebted to the exhisting radiologist Dr Xavier and disturbed me at his wish or
3. he did get some monetary benefit and benefits from Primes India , Chennai ,the recruiting agency , to recruit doctors and he gets some part of the money collected from hem .As I was employed without paying any commission to the agency , he is not happy as he lost some illegal and easy income

Let us go through his complaints about me in the appraisal form and analyse them in detail
His good and bad remarks about me are available in the performance appraisal for probation

Actually, there is no need for appraisal of my probation. But it was done with the intention to force me and torture me to put up with ill treatment or quit after the probation period so that they can retain one month's salary as a condition to relieve me. I was the first doctor to be recruited to this hospital, where I refused to pay any commission to the recruiting agency and refused to accept the job...Definitely Dr Pandian did not like this from the beginning but he had no option to do , as he could not get another suitable candidate for the said post, for the said time. He could not accept but had to agree that the hospital pays to employ a doctor for the first time in its history...I was not aware that the hospital paid the agency , as it was done without my knowledge .

good remarks

1.Dr Pandian says that I am a senior and experienced doctor

2 .Ultrasonography reports are appreciated by most of the consultants

Dr Pandian was compelled to make these honest part of his comments ,failing which , I would have left the services on 21 2 2010 itself ( the day the appraisal form was given to me for my comments ) , during that time they did not have anybody else ready to get employed in that hospital and he may not like me to quit as well as he cannot go against the appreciation of most of the doctors

when he says that I am a senior and experienced doctor why he was not willing to implement my suggestions ?

My first suggestion was to provide personal radiation dose monitoring device to be given to all radiation workers, which he flatly refused. There could not be any other way of ill treatment and gross injustice to a senior radiologist than this and to the rest of the radiation workers, instead he was telling me that another radiologist Dr Xavier , was not bothered about this and I should not raise this issue at all .This shows what kind of medical knowledge , he and Dr Xavier possess in this issue , a matter of protection to an occupational hazard .This was taken up by me to the managing director of the hospital later , but he also could not help out as Dr pandian is the close associate of the owner of the hospital Mr Nashid

bad comments and complaints about me

3.minor issues on practical feasibility of x-ray reporting

a) in the first instance , when I reported some x-rays he objected to that ; he said to me that I should not report on Australian VISA x-rays ; when I told him that I used to report at least 10 to 15 chest x-rays of Australian visa x-rays per working day at American mission hospital , Bahrain , he still asked me that I need not report them , then how he can complain on this issue

b) Further I was on ultrasound scan duty, doing one scan, explaining the patient all details and typing the report in every 20 minutes. I was doing almost 20 to 26 scans per day for 8 hours with break timings for tea and lunch...ultrasound scan was different from CT scan and MRI scans which were done by the machine, whereas ultrasound scan has to be done by the radiologist and while doing ultrasound scan, you cannot jump into X-ray reporting as one can do lot of errors in both if he does not concentrate..Dr Pandian knows about it but still he made this comment to create problem for me...it is easy to report x-rays while on CT scan and MRI scan duty, as during the scan procedure, the job being done by the machine and the radiographer, radiologist will have at least 20 minutes of free time as the reporting may not take more than 10 minutes per CT or MRI scan. I have seen with my own eyes that Dr Xavier be watching movies on the computer monitor during his duty hours in the CT room ...Everybody knows this and people cannot raise these issues as Dr Pandian and the management is worried that Dr Xavier will quit and go . Dr xavier also will not attend to any late calls as well as would not do split duties .

c ) while Dr Xavier was on leave for 20 days , I only reported all necessary x-rays kept for reporting by doing overtime and this fact is known to all including Dr Pandian

d ) it is customary that when the cardio-thoracic ratio is altered in chest x-rays ,i.e. when the heart appears enlarged , the radiologist indicates that a cardiac assessment is necessary and that is how entire radiological parlance reports but for this kind of reporting Dr Pandean objected and I refrained from reporting this statement in my reports to Dr pandian as I found this man as a problem making ,less knowledgeable person since Dr pandian interfered in my professional practise and professional ethics , I reported his x-rays only when he wanted them by me and not otherwise , which he did not like

4. the 4th adverse comment about me is " has not been reporting CT and MRI scans "
When a person admits, even before employment that he cannot do certain things, how he can be forced to do that? Radiology is not general practice, where you can escape by giving vague excuses, in radiology, you are reporting on a document and even your small mistake is detrimental to the patient and since the imaging document is available to the patient, the findings can be verified with another radiologist. Dr Pandian things that radiologists can play around with patients as he has encountered only such professionals. When I was fully engaged in taking up 20 to 26 scan appointments per 8 hours of working time , where is the question of reporting CT and MRI scans , that too in a non academic setup .As soon as I joined this hospital , Dr Xavier asked me why I did join that hospital all the way from Chennai ..He is such a friendly colleague that he would not even talk to his fellow colleagues...first thing he did was , he removed all his CT and MRI reports and report formats from the computer

Now radiology is a vast field, from conventional x-rays to MRI scans... i have seen in Maldives itself , a person reporting CT and MRI is not good in reporting missed abortion in obstetric scans as well as commenting foetal maturity .. I can prove this even tomorrow

as few of the radiologists are not confident of what they are doing but claim to be doing everything on earth , taking a chance with their patients , fortunately thank God , most of the examinations are normal and all patients are well

5.the next complaint is " not taking night calls " , " not taking weekend or leave day calls" , " health issues "

well as soon as I joined , I made it very clear to the administration that I cannot take any night calls as well as overtime work and I required certainly one day off per week .I was ready to go back on the third day of my joining work but only the administration wanted me to stay back as they could not get another radiologist during that time

The hospital administration had agreed to free me from night calls as well as overtime work and I was told that I will be given weekly off. I had written commitment from the managing director on this issue

I am a diabetic and hypertensive and aged 59 years. I am on short and long acting insulins , tablets metformin ( 1000 mg ) and glymipride ( 2 mg ) for diabetes . i am on tablet amilodipine ( 2.5 mg ) tablet bisaprolol ( 5 mg ) and thelmisartan ( 80 mg ) and have to be on diet , frequent small meals and have to go far one hour regular walk . . if the management did not like me for not doing night duty and overtime and weekend calls , they should have asked me to go away immediately , which i was also willing to do and claimed back the commission paid by them to the agency without my knowledge ..what or who prevented this ? who is the other culprit who shared this commission ? Can Pandian answer this?

Is Dr Pandian does night duty?
Is he on night call?
Is he on weekend call?
What is his age? and what medications he is on ?
He had worked in that place for 20 years. apart from that he has no other good qualities as a professional and as a colleague as he could not understand what is diabetes and hypertension

with all that I worked hard and proved my worth and kept myself fit, whereas one can see Dr Pandean’s hand shaking due to excessive drinking habits ...With my kind of illness and medication , he will be sleeping in his chair during his duty hours
and recently he was blessed with an attack of stroke for ill treating all indian doctors who are not submissive to his unprofessional attitude

Dr Pandian thinks that he is the only person worked for that hospital and others are to be treated as slaves without weekly off , holidays and restricted duty hours etc
He fails to understand, that every other senior professional comes to a higher level only by past hard work...in south Africa, i have taken patients from government hospital to private scan centres in my car and performed scans for no extra consideration..i was young enough to do that .we have shared night calls , weekend calls etc ..I have also come to this position only by hard work...if you don't want senior people in a hospital , you should not appoint them and if you appoint them , you have to consider their views and respect them also

So there is no need for raising such health related issues and this shows only the evil thinking mental health of Dr Pandian...during my stay at this hospital , i have not taken even one day of sick leave whereas Dr Pandian as well as Dr Xavier had taken sick leaves , this clearly shows Dr Pandian is not only physically but mentally also sick

6.the 8th complaint is " department work is affected due to frequent leave for personal and family reasons " --this is not a true statement
I am eligible for family obligation leave for 10 days in a year and I have gone on leave with proper application and leave approval on all occasions ; first occasion I took 10 days leave as my brother was in death bed but came back within 4 days to join as he recovered fast ; 2nd time I took 10 days leave as my brother was undergoing a major open cardiac surgery and again the surgery was extremely successful and he recovered very fast and I came back and joined within 4 days ; Dr Bashi ,the cardiac surgeon did a major cardiac surgery , for the first time in the whole world , he corrected 7 defects in the heart in one sitting and he was not willing to operate on him in the first instance as it was very risky for the life of my brother . In the press conference , he admitted that he went ahead and operated on my brother in spite of highest mortality rate as myself and my sister in law stood by him and encouraged him on the surgical procedure ..It is shame to deal with a doctor like Pandian after moving with great professionals like Dr Bashi ; 3rd time I was given official leave and family obligation leave together to attend a radiology conference at Ahmadabad

when I went on leave for the conference , Dr Pandian purposely gave leave for Dr Xavier also and created a false impression as if I am not coming back from India to join duty and he put me on duty when i was on sanctioned leave .
He was the first person to my knowledge to put a doctor on duty when the person is on leave...Dr Pandian is the only medical director in the world who sanctions leave for two doctors of the same speciality at the same time .. this act of him is the direct evidence of his IQ levels as an experienced medical director and general practitioner as well as his crooked behaviour

Dr Xavier was given 20 days of leave and during that time , I only looked after the department
I made the waiting list for ultrasound reduced from 4 weeks to 4 days
I never sent back a patient because they were late by 15 minutes. all other radiologists of this hospital will cancel their appointments
I gave best ultrasound reports while others gave vague report even to diagnose missed abortion , they kept on repeating the scans

Dr Pandian did interfere even with my interest to teach my colleagues , he did this mischief through the chief medical officer , Dr. Nithin Srinivasan , an ENT specialist
I am a new radiologist in the hospital and people were impressed with my reports but Dr Pandian did not like this, either on his own intention or at the intention of Dr Xavier, the already existing radiologist...this can be illustrated by the following incident
one Dr Preethi approaches me with the intention to learn ultrasound imaging techniques
I discuss with Mr Afall about training her in the same and he also agrees, this is advantageous to the hospital as well as to the patient. But Dr Nithin objects to this in various ways under the instruction of Dr Pandian...Dr Nithin deals with nose bleeding and what he gains by interfering with my intention to train somebody in ultrasound imaging to learn about vaginal bleeding? this is done only with the intention to suppress me under the instructions of Dr Pandian or Dr Xavier Wilfred

they tortured me by putting me on call on all days and they were not willing to listen to me and forced me to resign my job otherwise and purposefully deducted my one month's salary also towards the commission they paid to the agency , which was done without my knowledge

the agency is supposed to recruit another person ( radiologist ) in case I leave earlier than 2 years of contract period and the hospital cannot deduct my salary , that too when they have poor service conditions to doctors

Dr Pandian will not even allow me to go for my banking needs as I was on call on all days from 8 AM to 4 Pm. i was not allowed to go far my banking even during my lunch time and the bank closes by 3 PM on all days and no holiday for me also

Dr Pandian will question me for everything, even when I am not on call but he will not do the same with Dr Xavier...this is a classic example on 8/3/2010, an infant
oe a German parents ( tourists ) was admitted with dehydration and passing red current jelly like matter per rectum , clinically a case of suspected intussusception , the paediatrician wants an urgent ultrasound scan , Dr Xavier was on duty (3 to 11PM ) but relaxing at home and the time was about 10 PM and he refuses to do the scan , the child is made to wait till 8 AM next morning when I was on duty and I did the scan and confirmed the diagnosis and the child was sent to a hospital in Srilanka for further surgical management-----the treatment was delayed in the most deserving case and the ADK hospital boasts that “they are there when ever you mostly need their care “

While I was refusing to surrender my passport to the hospital administration , Dr Pandian and Dr Nithin Srinivasan forced me to surrender my passport to them

The hospital administration , Dr Pandian and Dr Nithin Srinivasan had acted against
my human and professional rights as a senior consultant radiologist and made me to spend five months of sleepless nights

under instructions from Dr Pandian , the administrative team put me in an accommodation which is deficient in air ventilation as well as natural lighting

Dr Pandian and Dr Nithin acted against a senior professional colleague and another Indian citizen for their personal gains and hence suspension of their medical registration must be recommended to the Tamilnadu medical council

The act of making Indian citizens to surrender their passports to the employees of a foreign country must be taken up with Indian high commission of Maldives and necessary orders to be passed

=============================================================
Primes India, the agency, responsible for my employment with ADK hospital has given written undertaking to give me a detailed account of my job at this hospital. This is clearly given in the agreement document signed by them with ADK hospital
And they also agreed to replace me with a suitable candidate, in case I leave before two years without any extra cost to the hospital and they also recruited two new radiologists

They have to answer me in the appropriate court as they miserably failed to list the conditions of my work at this hospital and they have given false working conditions
It is the intention of the ADK hospital to fool the doctors as they are not getting good doctors to work for them .The agency , which is aware of their tricks was keen to take their commission and join them to fool the doctors If I had been known that I have to surrender my passport , the payment will be in Maldivian Ruffia and not in USdollars , the accommodation being a filthy one , that I have to work all days in a week and be on call on all days , there will be professional interference and last but not the least that I have to do radiation work without radiation protection devices , I would not have taken up this job at all !!!

i can produce documentary evidence for everything i had mentioned here ,
like photographs , case sheets etc
i am placed at Chennai , my tel no is +91 9941547228
